I heart Bro - Save the date - August 8th

Dear Friends,
You know how we sit on Facebook all day taking quizzes and votes, become a fan, and support gay marriage? We tweeted away when prop 8 didn't pass and share you tube videos that show how intrusive it is to be told some people can marry, but others can't? Well what if we did something right now to help the fight, right now in our own back yard? Actually, my back yard! On August 8th I'll be hosting a Garden Party for Basic Rights Oregon.

These folks have work constantly for the rights against equality issues for years. Although 2009 has been a landmark year for gay marriage across the county, Oregon is still out of the loop. Make no mistake, marriage equality happening in our state will be no easy task. Put simply BRO needs our help. In the next years, together we can build a broad base of support for marriage equality in all 36 counties, reach communites of color and faith to ensure commonalities unite us, and launch an agressive education campaign that highlights why marriage matters to all of us.

However, we should have a lot of fun while doing it right? On August 8th my house will be the place. We have live entertainment, food, drink, and a miriad of auction items to show your support. There will be a fee to get in the door, but it all goes to BRO! So mark you calendar, become a fan, and show your support for marriage equality on August 8th!
We’ll do all of this together as fair-minded Oregonians. We will stand up for our values, and for the state that we believe Oregon can and should be. The Garden party is one of the many steps that we will take. Together.

Dear Corey,

I can't believe Bites for Rights is coming up this Thursday! I just finished my "eat"-tinerary and am very excited to make a day of it and support establishments that support equality for all:

Click here for a complete list of this year's locations and participants!

Bites for Rights works because we want to put our money where our mouth is and support businesses that believe in fairness and equality for ALL. Make a day of it this year and visit as many places as you can, because 15% of what you spend goes to Basic Rights Oregon.

Other folks are already noting where and when they'll be on Thursday—click here to post your "eat"-tinerary as well!

As always, be sure to thank the establishment for their participation before you leave, and of course, don't forget to order dessert!

Cheers,

P.S. A Special Thank You to This Year's Sponsors & Kirsty Munn for the graphic design:
